Maarten Vellinga* - 1955-2018. Vellinga was not only a Dutch artist, but for a 'simple' private person he had built up an impressive art collection and the remarkable thing was that he had all these works of art at home and that he opened his apartment once a year. Maarten enjoyed life, he sucked it up. He enjoyed women, he travelled the world, from Giethoorn to Zanzibar, from Amsterdam to the Antilles (several times), from Venice to Dubrovnic and everywhere he threw himself into local products, edible, liquid and cuddly.

Vellinga worked for 3 years in well-known advertising agencies before starting his own agency in 1981. The agency grew into a successful business, which meant that management took up more of his time than the application of his own creativity. 15 years later he sold the agency and created the space to develop ideas in an inspiring environment. His love for painting was inspired by Wassily Kandinsky (Blaue Reiter period). Soon he added his own style elements and his works found their way to the USA, France, Germany and England. He was also the secretary of the Art of Help Foundation which supports national charities.
