Maarten Vellinga* - 1955-2018. Vellinga was not only a Dutch artist, but had built up an impressive art collection for a 'simple' private individual. The special thing was that he had all these works of art at home and that he opened his apartment once a year. Maarten enjoyed life, he sucked it in. He enjoyed the women, he traveled all over the world, from Giethoorn to Zanzibar, from Amsterdam to the Antilles (on several occasions), from Venice to Dubrovnik and everywhere he threw himself into regional products, edible, liquid and cuddly.

Vellinga worked for well-known advertising agencies for 3 years before starting his own agency in 1981. The agency grew into a successful company, which meant that management took up more time than applying its own creativity. 15 years later he sold the office and created the space to develop ideas in an inspiring environment. His love for painting was inspired by Wassily Kandinsky (Blaue Reiter period). He soon added his own style elements and his works found their way to the USA, France, Germany and England. He was also secretary of the Art of Help Foundation that supports national charities.
